Aleron first came into existence in 2006 as the alumni ensemble of the Ateneo de Manila High School Glee Club under the musical direction of Christopher Ong Arceo. Being an all-male ensemble, Aleron is geared towards exploring the male choral soundscape – utilizing the capacity and versatility of the male voice in order to produce a rich vocal tapestry ranging from the highest soprano down to the lowest bass. An advocate of new, home-grown choral works, Aleron has collaborated with numerous established and up-and-coming Filipino composers and arrangers throughout its concert seasons. Through innovative programming and the performance of repertoires across musical styles and genres, the group aims to deliver to its audiences a diverse and relevant choral experience. Aleron’s successful participation in several national and international choral competitions and conventions – in the Philippines, Korea, Japan, and Macau – has earned it various accolades and distinctions, establishing the group as a formidable choral ensemble in the Asian region.

The group was invited to represent the Philippines at the 11th World Symposium on Choral Music to be held in Barcelona, Spain in July 2017. Christopher Ong Arceo, a baritone, served as assistant conductor of the Ateneo Chamber Singers from 2001-2007. Notable choral stints include singing for the San Francisco Choral Artists under Magen Salomon and the Grammy-award winning San Francisco Symphony Chorus under former Swedish Radio Choir conductor, Ragnar Bohlin. He studied voice with American-Cuban tenor Cesar Ulloa and graduated with a degree in Vocal Performance at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.
