  1. Magnificat in G minor RV 610 - Antonio Vivaldi
  2. Requiem Op 9 - Maurice Duruflé

Our spring concert begins with Vivaldi's Magnificat. Please join us for refreshments at the interval. We continue with Duruflé's Requiem, probably the most famous of his relatively few compositions. Duruflé (1902–1986) was a leading French organist and teacher of the twentieth century. Completed in 1947, the Requiem was heavily influenced by Gregorian chant, which formed the basis for another piece he was working on at the time. The Plainsong chant brings a calmness and serenity which is rarely met in other contemporary pieces.

City Chorus concerts are always convivial: filled with family, friends and supporters of the choir. Don't miss this sensational evening.
