Will Todd’s Mass in Blue, composed in 2003, is written for choir, jazz ensemble and soprano soloist. It is an exciting and vibrant piece which brings together the traditional Latin Mass with jazz and blues styles. The concert will also feature music composed by Eric Whitacre and Ola Gjelo.

The Nottingham Trent University Chamber Choir and Jazz Band will be joined by soprano soloist Katherine Crompton, a graduate of both the National Opera Studio and the Royal College of Music. Since graduating, Katherine Crompton has enjoyed considerable success in the opera and classical world – performance highlights include The Creation at Royal Festival Hall, Brahms's Requiem at Cadogan Hall and Beethoven Ninth Symphony at Winchester Cathedral.

The Nottingham Trent University Chamber Choir and Jazz Band are both made up of students, staff and alumni of the university. The Chamber Choir, who were recently placed first in the mixed choir category at the international North Wales Choral Festival in November 2016, have a very exciting year ahead with performances in Southwell Minster, Nottingham’s Royal Concert Hall and Albert Hall as well as their annual tour - which this year will take them to Chandigarh, India!
