The Lancaster and District Choral Society make a return to 'home' venue of the Grand Theatre Lancaster, for a varied concert.

We would like to welcome you to the Grand Theatre in the heart of Lancaster for the second full concert here for the Lancaster and District Choral Society. This is a facinating venue both for the Choral Society and the concert going people of North West Lancaster.

The Grand Theatre, under its many names, has been a major part of the social and cultural life of Lancaster since being
built in 1782. The Lancaster and District Choral Society had its origins here in the first part of the 19th century when an owner and local entrepreneur,
Edmund Sharpe, decided the Theatre required a choir and so created the Lancaster and District Musical Society in 1836,
which eventually became the Choral Society.

The pieces being performed are Carl Orff's 'Carmina Burana' and Bob Chilcott's 'A Little Jazz Mass'. The arrangement of the Orff is for two pianos and percussionists.
