St George's Singers invites everyone to celebrate with us at our special diamond anniversary concert, when we perform a diverse selection of choral works from the past 600 years, one century for each of our decades. We will take a choral journey reflecting the many facets of our choral versatility, from the dancing rhythms of Byrd’s joyful Laudibus in sanctis to Eric Whiteacre’s serenely beautiful Sleep via Bach, Handel, Mendelssohn, Holst and more. There will be items well known and loved by audiences and others less familiar but very well worth getting to konw. We will be singing modern choral classics from Jonathan Dove, Arvo Pärt and Eric Whitacre, and giving our first performance of Latvian composer Ugis Praulinš’s Missa Regensis, a work composed in 2002 in the spirit of the great Renaissance masses and with a mosaic of intriguing musical ideas woven into a whole which is exciting to sing and delightful to hear. Items from individual sections of the choir, and contributions from the keyboard by Neil Taylor and Pete Durrant ensure no one will be left out of this celebration. A concert not to be missed!
