  1. St John Passion BWV 245 - Johann Sebastian Bach

Cambridge University Collegium Musicum, the University’s period instrument ensemble, join forces with Cambridge University Chamber Choir for a performance of one of JS Bach’s most famous works, the St John Passion. Cambridge University Collegium Musicum is a vibrant ensemble that enables students to experience performance on period instruments and historical performance techniques. Margaret Faultless, Cambridge University Collegium Musicum director, is an internationally-renowned specialist in historical performance practice and co-leader of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment. Cambridge University Chamber Choir aims to provide the best student singers with the opportunity to perform, to the highest possible standard, repertoire that is not usually undertaken by Cambridge chapel choirs.

The role of the Evangelist will be performed by tenor Nicholas Mulroy. Mulroy has been described as ‘an Evangelist of choice, dramatic yet never over-involved, engaged reporter rather than partisan witness’ (Fiona Maddocks – The Observer) and ‘the most sought after Evangelist of his generation’.
