Harmony and Concord - music for violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord

Solo music for violin, viola da gamba and harpsichord by Tomkins, Playford, Blow and Telemann, plus Purcell’s G minor Trio Sonata and Jenkins’s Fantasia Suite played by three specialist early musicians on period instruments. The first in the 2017 series of concerts at the charming and historic Old Baptist Chapel in Tewkesbury: "…such a lovely lovely gem of a concert - it was a joy in the middle of a lovely summer afternoon to come to such a beautiful space and just be able to be completely absorbed in words and music…"

Kate Fawcett and Martin Perkins are based in Worcester and run the Musical and Amicable Society; Martin is Lecturer in Early Music at Birmingham Conservatoire

Simone Eckert is based in Hamburg and runs Hamburger Ratsmusik, an award-winning ensemble specialising in 17th and 18th music from North Germany. Simone will speak at the Viola da Gamba Society meeting in Oxford on 22 April, and there’s an opportunity for viol players to workshop with her in Tewkesbury on Sunday 23 April (further information from Jill Davies 01684 850112)
