  1. Romeo and Juliet Fantasy Overture - Pyotr Tchaikovsky
  2. Serenade for tenor, horn and strings Op 31 - Benjamin Britten
  3. Symphony No 1 in C minor Op 68 - Johannes Brahms

Each programme this year features a major symphonic work by some of the greatest exponents of the genre: Mahler, Beethoven, Brahms and Dvorák provide these focal points, and are presented alongside a varied selection of music from Russia, the United States, and Great Britain.

April's programme allows the orchestra to tackle two of the greatest 'warhorses' of the repertoire: Brahms's Symphony No 1 and Tchaikovsky's Fantasy Overture: Romeo and Juliet. Much more intimate in scale is Benjamin Britten's Serenade for tenor, horn and strings, and we are delighted to be able to welcome Yorkshire-born tenor Nicholas Watts and Andrew Littlemore (French horn) to perform this wonderfully evocative song-cycle.
