Mass No 11 in D minor, 'Nelson Mass' (Missa in Angustiis), HobXXII/11
2:
Insanae et vanae curae
Note:
The Music at St Peter's season traditionally ends with a concert by The Thames Consort. This year they anticipate the celebrations that in 2009 will mark the bicentenary of the death of Joseph Haydn with a performance of his Nelson Mass (Missa in Angustiis) - declared by the Haydn expert H C Robbins Landon to be his greatest single composition. The programme also includes Haydn's Cantata Insanae et Vanae Curae.
