David Ogden, conductor
Programme :George Frideric Handel
1:Israel in Egypt, HWV54
Note: A performance of one of Handel’s greatest works, dominated by massive virtuosic choruses, hailstones and lightning, buzzing flies and leaping frogs. All are brilliantly evoked for soloists, choir and orchestra in a series of incisive arias and choruses telling of the plagues of Egypt and the crossing of the Red Sea, following Moses and the Children of Israel through the events of the exodus. The epic nature of the story is the perfect subject to showcase Handel’s genius for story-telling and drama.

City of Bristol Choir is joined by Emerald Ensemble and six vocal soloists for a performance of this dramatic and exciting work.
